What can you do with
Plus 1?

Most people think Plus 1 is just for meeting strangers. It is, and it is also two other things. Here is the full picture.

Quick answer

Plus 1 has three use cases. Meet someone new (post a plan, match with people who want the same activity). Coordinate plans with the friends you already have (Premium at $4.99 per month unlocks groups up to five). Browse the Ideas tab for local recommendations and turn any of them into a plan.

Use case 1: Meet someone new

The original Plus 1

Free to use

This is the use case most people know, and it works two ways: post a plan or browse plans. If you know what you want to do, post it (dinner Friday at 8pm at Sunny's, padel Saturday at 6pm, gallery walk Sunday afternoon in Wynwood) and other verified members request to join. If you want inspiration, browse the plans other members have already posted and request to join any that fit your vibe. Either way, chat opens after mutual approval, and you meet at the activity.

The plan is the introduction. That is the difference between Plus 1 and every profile-first app. Nobody is swiping through pictures hoping to find a real connection. Everyone starts with a specific thing they want to do, then finds someone to do it with.

Don't see a plan that fits? Post your own. This is the move most people miss. If you scroll the feed and nothing matches your speed, that is a signal to post something better. Post the plan you actually want, at the exact spot you actually want to go, on the day that works for you. Your people will find you. The members who match your vibe are the ones who request to join a plan that already sounds like their kind of night. Posting is not just for extroverts, it is how you filter for people who actually want the same thing you do.

Best for:

  • People new to a city who need to build a network fast
  • Anyone tired of the profile-swipe-ghost dating loop
  • Adults who want to make friends after 30 without joining a run club
  • Solo travelers looking for a local companion for one plan
  • Professionals who want networking that does not feel like networking

Use case 2: Coordinate plans with the friends you already have

The friend-group operating system

Best with Premium ($4.99/month)

This is the underrated one. Plus 1 works as a shared plan-and-idea hub for a group of friends who already know each other. Instead of the group chat where three people ask "what are we doing this weekend?" and nobody answers, plans on Plus 1 are visible. Someone posts brunch Sunday. Someone else taps to join. Done.

How it works with friends: post a plan, share the link with your friends, they download the app to join. Now everyone in the group can see what everyone else is up to. If you follow each other, you can invite friends directly to any plan you post.

Premium unlocks groups of five, plus a group chat. Free members can approve one person per plan. Premium at $4.99 per month lets you approve up to five AND opens a built-in group chat for each plan, so everyone can coordinate in one place, "who's driving?", "meet at 7 or 7:30?", "someone grab the reservation" — all inside the plan itself, not across five different iMessage threads. Dinner for six, weekend trip prep, sports team coordination, whatever.

Best for:

  • Friend groups that live in the same city but never coordinate well
  • Recurring hangouts (Sunday brunch crew, Thursday happy hour crew)
  • Weekend trip planning
  • Post-work drinks with the same 4 to 5 coworkers
  • Anyone tired of the group-chat "who's in?" back-and-forth

Use case 3: Find something to do

The Ideas tab

Free to browse

Sometimes you have the time but not the plan. Open the Ideas tab. It is a curated feed of restaurants, rooftops, events, activities, and things to do near you this week. Concerts, gallery openings, brunches, run routes, date-night spots, everything.

See something you like? Tap once and it becomes a plan you can post to your friends or the wider network. Ideas turn into plans in two taps. No more "I don't know what we should do."

What is in Ideas:

  • Miami: restaurants, rooftops, yacht days, gallery openings, sports, wellness
  • NYC (early launch): coffee spots, run routes, live music, brunches, museums
  • Ticketmaster events (concerts, sports, shows) available in-app to post as plans
  • Local recommendations refreshed weekly

Best for:

  • Weekends where you have time but no plan
  • Date nights when you're out of restaurant ideas
  • Weeknight decisions ("what should we do tonight?")
  • Travelers wanting a local Ideas feed instead of TripAdvisor

How the three use cases stack

Most active members use all three. A typical Miami member posts a plan (use case 1), invites two close friends to join (use case 2), and browses Ideas for their next date night (use case 3), all in the same week. The three work together, not separately.

That is why the app is worth downloading even if you already have a social life. It replaces the group chat, the "what should we do?" question, and the profile-swiping app in one place.

Frequently asked

Can I use Plus 1 with only my existing friends?

Yes. Post a plan, share the link, your friends download the app to join. You never have to interact with strangers if you do not want to. Many members use Plus 1 exclusively as a friend-group coordination tool.

Does Plus 1 support group plans?

Yes. Free members approve one person per plan (one-on-one). Premium members ($4.99 per month) approve up to five (small groups). If you follow each other, you can also invite followers directly to any plan.

What is the difference between Plus 1 and a group chat?

Plans on Plus 1 are visible, dated, and structured. In a group chat, someone asks "what are we doing?" and nobody answers. On Plus 1, someone posts brunch Sunday, others tap to join, and the plan is confirmed. No more coordination purgatory.

Is the Ideas tab available on the free plan?

Yes. Anyone can browse Ideas for free. You can also turn any idea into a plan you post (subject to your tier's approval limits).

Does Plus 1 work in cities besides Miami?

Plus 1 is active across Miami and South Florida (Brickell, Wynwood, Miami Beach, Coconut Grove, Coral Gables, Fort Lauderdale, Tampa, Orlando, Fort Myers), and now available in New York City in an early community launch. The app works anywhere; local density is strongest in Florida.

Try all three.

Free to download. Post a plan, invite friends, or just browse Ideas. Takes 30 seconds.
