Date Night

Coconut Grove dates,
beyond CocoWalk.

The Grove is more than the shopping center. Here are the dates worth the drive.

Coconut Grove is Miami's most underrated date-night neighborhood. Slower, leafier, more old-Florida than the rest of the city. These are the dates that locals recommend.

The big-impression date

Sunset sailing from Dinner Key Marina

Rent a Hobie Cat for two hours through Shake-A-Leg or Sailboats Miami. About $100 to $150 for the rental, plus optional captain. The route past Stiltsville and the Key Biscayne lighthouse is one of the prettiest hours you can spend in Miami.

Dinner at Le Bouchon du Grove

Old-school French bistro, candlelit, the steak frites every time. The kind of place that has not changed in 30 years and feels romantic because of it.

The chill date

Picnic at Peacock Park

Grab sandwiches from Greenstreet Cafe, walk to Peacock Park, watch the boats. Free, simple, and surprisingly memorable.

Wine flight at Bin No. 18 or The Tasting Room

$25 to $40 per person for a curated flight. Better for conversation than a loud restaurant.

The activity date

Vizcaya Museum and Gardens

Italian renaissance villa on Biscayne Bay. $25 admission. Walk the gardens, take photos, grab a coffee after. Best in the morning before the heat.

Kayaking from Matheson Hammock Park

Rent tandem kayaks, paddle around the atoll pool, see manatees if you are lucky. Bring water and reef-safe sunscreen.

The late-night date

Drinks at the Mutiny Hotel rooftop

Underrated views, strong cocktails, calmer than Brickell.

Live jazz at The Barnacle

Sunday concerts in the historic state park. Bring a blanket. Bring a bottle.
