How to find a +1
for anything.
The simple framework. From concerts and weddings to dinners and openings.
The simple framework. From concerts and weddings to dinners and openings.
You have an extra ticket. Or a reservation that needs two. Or a wedding invite with "+1" on the envelope and no one obvious to bring. The default move is to scroll through your phone, text three people you have not seen in a while, get three "ugh sorry can't" replies, and end up going alone (or not going at all).
Here is a better framework, in three steps.
Most people try to find a person first and then figure out where to take them. That is backwards. The plan is the easier variable. Lead with what you are doing and let the right person self-select. Someone who is excited about a wine tasting is a way better wine tasting +1 than someone you are slightly attracted to who is "down for anything."
Your top five friends already have things on their calendar. The people most likely to say yes are one ring out: friends of friends, coworkers you like, people from your gym or run club, members of your Plus 1 network. Make the ask explicit. "I have an extra ticket to X on Saturday, would love a +1." Not "you should come if you want."
Bringing a +1 who matches the energy of the event matters more than bringing someone you know well. A boisterous friend at a quiet wine tasting is harder than an acquaintance who genuinely likes wine. A serious work contact at a concert is harder than someone you barely know who is into the band.
Plus 1 was built specifically for this problem. Post the event, see who in your city is interested, approve who's a fit, show up. The matching is verified profiles plus shared interest, which means the energy-match is already filtered.
